Search engine submission is where you use forms to send information to a search engine about your website. The search engine evaluates the submission and decides whether or not it will crawl your site and index it. No search engine guarantees that you will be indexed if you submit your site to them. This makes search engine submission a thing of the past, because search engines use much more advanced techniques to put your site up on the web.

The way search engines index websites is through inbound links. A search engine will follow links from websites that they already have indexed. If a website has a high traffic volume, search engines will crawl that website very frequently.
